The Retreat cabin in the woods

Lovely cabin in a lovely location but a shame that the water and boiler were not working Positive: The location Negative: We had absolutely no water for drinking flushing the toilet or showering for the first morning and no hot water due to a boiler fault on the second morning so was not a great experience .

Fantastic location, peaceful, great outlook the retreat had all the facilities that you would need

Rustic charm with creature comforts; great location for walking and other outdoor activities. Positive: Set off the road in the Norfolk countryside; the location is beautiful and well away from the road. The cabin is well equipped and comfortable; located on a footpath and great if you enjoy walking. We really enjoyed the solitude, the horses, and wildlife. Everything worked and was of decent quality. The place lives up to its description and we had a terrific 3 nights. Really a place for the active and nature lovers, a bit rustic but that just adds to the charm. Negative: Everything was very dry and brown (but it is was a drought July 2026). There are paddocks for horses behind the cabin; so there can be flies also be aware the the horses are moved/fed every day, so people are around (not a problem for us but could be for some). The cabin is about 100 meters from the parking place down a dirt path, OK in the summer but I would say it could get very muddy in winter. There is a trolly to help move your gear but hard work if you have a lot of stuff. It is possible to drive the 100 meters down a byway straight to the cabin if you have a heavy load. I would not recommend this in wet weather or with a low ground clearance car; easy if you have a 4x4! The turning of the B road to the property can be hard to spot and is a tricky right turn (blind spot) when leaving.

Had a lovely stay with our small dog. Ended up cooking and eating in rather than going out for meals as we were happy to Positive: The location generally, the position and the overall comfort of the Cabin. Negative: Only small problem was only 1 bin bag and t-towel provided. Asked for a couple more but never received them.
